Camila Chicon is an Afro dancer, therapeutic dance facilitator and a yoga teacher.

During Summer Season of 2025, Camila will be touring around NZ, visiting different NZ drumming & dance communities and pooling energies with other dance & drumming teachers to get as many people to feel the joy of living by making music and moving to the beat of the drums.

Bodyfulness is a body-centered contemplative practice that explores four central themes: breath, sensation, movement and relations. Bodyfulness begins when the embodied self is held in a conscious, contemplative and non-judgemental environment. These practices include breathwork, stretching, gazes, body exploration, free movement and meditations, among other techniques to re-establish the connection & unity between mind and body.

Follow the call of the drum, the beat of your heart, the first sound we can hear in our mum`s womb.... is beating, is alive, is energy.... Feel it and follow it.... you will find a bunch of people welcoming you with smiling faces and vibrating bodies full of excitement for the simple fact of being alive, here & now.

Challenge yourself to try the complexity of the traditional west african rhythm ensemble learning the patterns of the kenkeni, sangban & dununba.
Also, push yourself out of the comfort zone and dance & drum at the same time with the powerful beat of the dundun!
